3D Mammography

Mammography is a specific type of breast imaging that uses low-dose x-rays to detect cancer early—before women experience symptoms—when it is most treatable. Mammography plays a central part in the early detection of breast cancers because it can show changes in the breast up to two years before you or your physician can feel them. The American Medical Association (AMA) and the American College of Radiology (ACR) recommend annual mammograms for women over 40. The National Cancer Institute (NCI) adds that women who have a personal or family history of breast cancer should talk to their doctor about when they should begin screening.

At Coshocton Regional Medical Center, we’re dedicated to giving you access to the technology – 3D Mammography – that can provide early and accurate diagnosis to help give you the best options for recovery.

To schedule a mammography exam, contact our central scheduling department at 740-623-4237.

Why 3D Mammography?

The 3D Mammography system, the Senographe Pristina, has high image quality and low dose imaging (the lowest dose of all 3D FDA-approved systems vs FFDM). 3D images combined with will produce clearer images that will make it easier for doctors to catch breast cancer early. New comfort features help decrease pain and reduce anxiety associated with the exam with flex compression— sensors identify when anatomy is sufficiently compressed and continues to compress thinner portions of the breast tissue to create a uniform image while helping to reduce patient discomfort.

The Senographe Pristina also offers other comfort features including rounded corners instead of sharp edges that used to poke patients’ ribs, a thinner and warmer image detector that creates less hard, cold material touching the patient and comfortable armrests for women to lean on instead of conventional handgrips so women can relax their muscles during the exam which simplifies positioning, compression and image acquisition.
