(Coshocton, Ohio – April 17, 2018) – Coshocton Regional Medical Center Administrator and CNO Stephanie Conn has announced the appointment of Gary J. Carver, MD, to the position of Chief Medical Officer for the hospital. Dr. Carver will provide medical oversight, expertise, and clinical leadership to ensure the continual delivery of safe, high-quality healthcare. He will work as a key member of the senior leadership team to provide clinical direction toward ongoing quality improvement and accreditation initiatives, as well as service line development projects.

In addition to his CMO responsibilities, Dr. Carver will continue to serve as Director of Hospitalist Medicine, a position he has held with the hospital since 2013. His work as a hospitalist treating patients in the acute care setting contributes to his unique qualifications to monitor adherence to evidence-based protocols and quality standards.

“An effective CMO is a physician whose clinical skill and adherence to best practices in quality and clinical standards are recognized and valued by his peers,” said Stephanie D. Conn, MSN, RN, Administrator/CNO. “Dr. Carver’s leadership and dedication to the practice of medicine have been evident in his more than 30 years of service in our community, in both his private practice and his work with patients in our hospital. A focus on patient safety practices earned the hospital the nationally recognized Grade A Safety Award from The Leapfrog Group for the group’s two 2017 reporting periods. These ratings are based on the hospital’s performance in protecting patients from avoidable risks such as infection, falls and surgical errors. The CMO takes a leadership role in ensuring physicians and staff understand and follow recognized standards of care to help ensure each patients’ safety. Dr. Carver will work closely with all clinicians to ensure continued adherence to these standards.
