Hospitalist

If you’re admitted to the hospital, you will not see your family practice physician during your stay. Instead, your inpatient care will be managed by a hospitalist, a physician specially trained to care for patients in the acute care setting. The hospitalist directs your care and reports your progress back to your physician, who will follow up with you after you leave the hospital.

Inpatient care provided by hospitalists is now commonplace as physician practices have become busier and inpatient care is more complex. While there are some physicians who see their patients both in their office and as inpatients, there are many others who prefer their hospitalized patients be seen by a member of the hospitalist staff. Hospitalists also provide care to inpatients who do not have a local physician.

We have hospitalist providers available to provide care 24-hours-per-day, under the leadership of Gary J. Carver, MD, Chief Medical Officer.
